DIY Wrap Top Using Simplicity 8424
Did you miss me? January was such a crazy month I would start a blog post, but then completely get distracted and didn't get to share this wrap top I made using Simplicity 8424. Ironically enough this is the perfect time to share it for two reasons Valentine's day is this Sunday and the fabric that I used is from a Black and Latina own fabric company called Melanated Fabrics.

How to Adjust Any Sewing Pattern From Woven to Stretch Fabric
Hey you Introverts, have you ever found a pattern you loved, but didn’t want to make it out of stiff fabric with no give? I will walk you through how to adjust any sewing pattern from woven to stretch fabric. If you follow me on Instagram or on my Facebook page then you may remember the teal sweater knit fabric that you see here. Earlier this year, I mentioned purchasing it from SAS Fabrics. This was at the Phoenix location off of Indian School if you’re curious. Let me tell you one thing I have been working on is my self-confidence with sewing. All the compliments in the world don’t…

Why Saving Scrap Fabric is the Best Thing You Could Ever Do
Hello my Introverts! I hope you are ready to learn all about the Vogue pattern 9044 hat that I made recently using only scraps that I had in my fabric stash. A little back story about how this came to be. One of my IG friends started a challenge called the Sewing Bowl where she creates categories for everything from what pattern company to choose to what type of fabric to use. I decided I needed some help getting back into the swing of things with sewing so I signed up for September. She picks the categories from a literal bowl and then shares and tags you in the post…

The Best Way to Sew a Teddy Faux Fur Coat
Happy early Valentine’s Day Introverts! Today, I thought I’d share something special a little V-day inspired look. A couple of weeks ago I went up to Flagstaff, Arizona to catch the little bit of snow that was left in Arizona. It doesn’t snow down in Phoenix at all, except that one time about 5 or 6 years ago, but it was gone in a few hours so you blinked and you missed it. Growing up in the Chicago area, snow in the winter was something that I looked forward to. I remember growing up making forts and having snowball fights with my little brother. We’d play for hours and then…

Getting Away with Wearing Faux Fur in Arizona McCalls 7257 Pattern Review
I’m guilty of being one of those people who doesn’t take down her holiday decorations after the New Year. Now I have a good reason for it this year, dealing with my post-op recovery and other personal issues has made me a little depressed. For some reason, it has been more difficult than I remember it being the first time I had a fibroid removed. I still have pain on my left side, but it seems to get a little better every week. I just thought that into my 4th week now that I would be back to my normal self or at least skipping around the house a little…

Celebrating My Anniversary in Style with Simplicity 8739
Hi Introverts! I`m trying something new. I know a lot of you follow me because you are also an introvert. Social media and blogs allow us to express ourselves without the pressure to continue to entertain or speak up in a large crowd, usually five or more people, lol. If you are on Instagram, then you know that I announced my very first sewing challenge. So excited! (If you watched Kevin Hart`s Irresponsible comedy show on Netflix you get the reference). I have wanted to work with faux fur for a long time, but was too scared to try it. Well November was the perfect month to experiement because it…

The Making of My Birthday Dress and Adventure to Long Beach
Hi loves, I know it has been way too long. I’m usually writing at least one post a month. That’s how I imagine it in my head. I promise I am trying to get better at this. My official birthday is in the middle of this week, Wednesday, August 21st, but being the true Leo that I am I get excited when the month comes around and the weekend before it. This year my husband and I decided to go to Cali to celebrate my birthday and catch up with some friends. Honestly, the first half of the year had been rough with all my health issues especially in May…

Don’t be Like me: Tips to Sew Burda Pattern 6661
Happy Friday loves! I always like to search to see if anyone else has made a pattern I’m attempting that way if I get stuck I can reach out and see what they are doing and I hope that others do the same with me. The sewing community is a really open and sharing group of ladies and gentleman. If you decide to join you will not regret it. Well, on my search I only found one other person who had made the jacket. It made me wonder was it the pattern number that kept people away? I get it if it is. I decided that I wouldn’t let a…

Everything You Need to Know About Creating Simplicity Pattern 8174 Moto Jacket
I finally got the images I needed to show you all the blood, sweat and tears I put into making my first moto jacket. If you know me then you know I don’t like to take the easy way when it comes to sewing. I am not afraid to try making something new if it will get me one step closer to my dream wardrobe. I had a moto jacket in the past, but it was faux leather and after a while, it started to pill. After that, I couldn’t get myself to purchase a new one and real leather motos were out of the question because of the cost…

The Fear of Leggings: Pattern Review of McCalls 7261
There are many aspects of my life where I find myself being brave and then I have moments of complete fear. I usually ignore the problem until I can muster up the courage to tackle it, but sometimes that can take weeks such is the case with making a pair of leggings. The last time I made fitted pants they almost ripped on the runway and I have allowed that fear to cripple my creativity when it comes to sewing pants. Last year I only made one pair of pants and I made them so wide that I wouldn’t have to worry about my curves. Now my goal last year…
