DIY Wrap Top Using Simplicity 8424

    February 12, 2021 / 4 Comments

Did you miss me? January was such a crazy month I would start a blog post, but then completely get distracted and didn't get to share this wrap top I made using Simplicity 8424. Ironically enough this is the perfect time to share it for two reasons Valentine's day is this Sunday and the fabric that I used is from a Black and Latina own fabric company called Melanated Fabrics.

How to Adjust Any Sewing Pattern From Woven to Stretch Fabric

    December 29, 2020 / 9 Comments

Hey you Introverts, have you ever found a pattern you loved, but didn’t want to make it out of stiff fabric with no give? I will walk you through how to adjust any sewing pattern from woven to stretch fabric. If you follow me on Instagram or on my Facebook page then you may remember the teal sweater knit fabric that you see here. Earlier this year, I mentioned purchasing it from SAS Fabrics. This was at the Phoenix location off of Indian School if you’re curious. Let me tell you one thing I have been working on is my self-confidence with sewing. All the compliments in the world don’t…

DIY Overall Dress Using McCalls 8162

    October 18, 2020 / No Comments

I am so excited to share this post with you. This is the first time that I have drastically alter a pattern that matched the vision I had in mind and made an overall dress of all things. If you've known me for a while then you know I don't wear overalls because I don't get the city slicker look I want when I wear them. Well ...

Happy Wednesday Introverts! If you caught my post yesterday then you know that I planned a two for one deal. Two posts this week! I know that’s unheard of from me. Well, I didn’t have time last week to get one of my posts up so I wanted to make sure that I caught up. Today, I will share some tips I have in making my own faux leather dress. If you follow trends then you know that leather/faux leather/pleather are on trend this winter so I tried my luck at making my own dress. My idea was to create a dress that didn’t have any neckline or hemstitching so…

The Best Way to Sew a Teddy Faux Fur Coat

    February 13, 2020 / No Comments

Happy early Valentine’s Day Introverts! Today, I thought I’d share something special a little V-day inspired look. A couple of weeks ago I went up to Flagstaff, Arizona to catch the little bit of snow that was left in Arizona. It doesn’t snow down in Phoenix at all, except that one time about 5 or 6 years ago, but it was gone in a few hours so you blinked and you missed it. Growing up in the Chicago area, snow in the winter was something that I looked forward to. I remember growing up making forts and having snowball fights with my little brother. We’d play for hours and then…

Hello my Introverts! It has been a crazy and busy January for me and I am so excited to share some of my other makes from the faux furever challenge last November. I am starting to feel like myself again, but I have some work to do to get back to doing Zumba and you guys know how much I love to dance. For now, I walk and that I definitely over did it this past weekend. I spent time with some amazing ladies from Phoenix Babes Who Create. It’s a group of creative women from all walks of life, bloggers, real estate agents, advertising agents, sewists (wink wink) and…

Simplicity 8424 Pattern Review: Mesh Knit Pullover Top

    April 17, 2019 / 3 Comments

Hey Loves! I know it has been a while. I have been working hard on my craft and health lately so I had to put blogging on the back burner for a minute. Good news is that my health is starting to get under control (yeah Zumba!!) and I am seeing the inches come off. You’ll see in the photos from today’s review. I can honestly say this is my new favorite top. I wanted to create something with a little more edge to it as I wanted to show that I can be edgy not just adorable or cute as I’ve heard most of my life. This was a…

Hi! Who am I you ask? I am a shy girl who has a sarcastic and goofy side and has found sewing to be my outlet to break out of my shell. I grew up with siblings so I like to share my knowledge with those around me. I look forward to getting to you know you.

Happy Monday! Are we still saying that? I have been a busy bee trying to pack so you’ll have to excuse me while I disappear for a minute. You guys mentioned you wanted more faux leather so I am here to deliver.
This is why you can’t follow what happens on social media so closely. NO ONE’S life is perfect. I meant to get this up yesterday, but waited for Chris to get home to take the pictures. He wanted to practice and my camera was acting up. We took this with my phone.
The pup is at camp and we have the house to ourselves. Oh the shenanigans that will be had. To all those who celebrate Happy Valentine’s Day! 🤗 💋 🤗 💋
Don’t mind us just out here in these streets trying to get our lives together.
In honor of National Wear Red day. I pulled this red number from the archives. Most of you know I suffer from blood clots and pulmonary embolism, which is due to a protein S deficiency that was triggered by taking birth control to control my fibroids. Yeah, I know how wild that sounds, but I am not alone. Blood clots left untreated can lead to cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks and strokes. These diseases cause 1 in 3 deaths in women every year making it the number one health related killer in women. So this is near and dear to my heart.
Here’s a throwback for you. You guys remember this little red number? I’m working with leather again. Be sure to check my stories for a sneak peek of the bag I made.
Trying to find a black owned business to support in honor of black history month? I gotcha covered. Check out these buttons made by my girl @tabithasewer she didn’t like what she saw in the stores like most of us and created these unique and fun buttons. Go check out her page and follow if you aren’t already.
A new month and a Monday has rolled around again and I have to say that I am totally exhausted. I wish the weekend was longer. But who doesn’t? 🤷🏽‍♀️
